2007-05-08 [Rainblossom]: Well, in my opinion, an anthro is an animal with distinct human traits, bipedal stance, and a broader range of thought. I've heard it said many times on the internetz that "furries" are actually people who give themselves "fursonas" or think/feel that they are partly the animal they use to represent themselves. There's also Therainthrophy, which is the belief that one is an animal spirit in a human body.

I feel that anthros are just characters or drawings of animals with human traits, while "furries" actually represent people.

And then there's Anthropomorphic such as Watership Down and Fire Bringer.

2007-05-08 [Shadow Reaper]: i blame sleeplessness for not having thought over the word "furry" initially. and [Rainblossom] does give a good point. i think my gf would probably classify me as being a part of both furry and therainthrophy belief, since there are times i do seem to exhibit some small parts of certain animal traits...not like..beastial traits or anything, just in my actions, how i react to certain things and so forth...she says that to her i'm an almagasm (not sure if that's the right word...can't remember) of wolf, cougar/mountain lion/puma (depending on where you live), and oddly enough dolphin. of course, with the character i use he's...somewhat like that...although he's part water dragon instead of dolphin or cougar, although dragons do seem to exhibit the traits of both animals...at least some of the species people have created
